Actively demonstrates corporate values by being committed to excellence, doing the right thing, and treating people with respect. Responsibilities: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze structures for complex loading conditions from wire, equipment, wind, seismic, ice, electrical, thermal and dynamic loads.
Execute assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, root-cause evaluation, and problem solving including structural failure analysis.
Assist in project planning, organization and implementation of projects as a technical expert in structural engineering discipline.
Perform advanced engineering tasks of a complex nature in design, operation, and maintenance of projects to ensure safe, reliable and cost effective facilities.
Perform in-depth technical and economic evaluations of designs, studies, bids and specifications for projects.
Respond to unplanned transmission system events and performs initial assessments and troubleshooting, and occasional coordination of needed resources to return equipment to service.
Create and update engineering process and practices; maintain proper engineering files and records.
Develop tools and training to assist transmission and substation engineers in structural designs.
Perform independent reviews of work performed by others (e.g. 3rd party consultants) including calculations and drawing preparation.
Manage multiple projects and deliver structural designs on time, coordinating with other engineering groups, operations, and contractors in designs as needed.
Support field construction with technical and design expertise as needed.
Utilize safety & compliance policies/practices and applicable QA programs.
Lead meetings as necessary utilizing effective oral and written communications with various stakeholders including employees, management, government agencies, and external vendors including representing FPL at industry specific professional organizations.
Communicate effectively and transparently with peers and others.
Demonstrate bias for action and follow through.
Independently perform most assignments with instruction only regarding general expected results and receive technical guidance only for unusual or complex problems.
Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less-experienced engineers. Requirements: Required:
